A Very Berry Heart-Healthy Oatmeal
Even though February was heart-healthy month, does not mean that the rest of the months you forget about your heart's health! Make sure you continue to eat right for your heart, all-year around. Oatmeal is such a healthy breakfast to start incorporating into your diet. There are many things to add to your hot cereal, so become adventurous and try different concoctions. This oatmeal has berries in it, that are also heart-healthy. Basically your heart is going to "heart you" (love you)!!
Very Berry Heart-Healthy Oatmeal
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
- 1 cup old fashion oats
- 2 cup water
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1/4 cup strawberries, chopped
- 2 Tbsp soy milk
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- optional: a little go-lean crunch or granola to top it off
Directions:
- Boil water.
- Add oats, berries, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
- Let it cook for 4 minutes over medium heat, sir occasionally.
- Add milk and let it cook 1 more minute.
- Separate into two bowls.
- Top off with go-lean crunch or anything else you want.
