Blackberry and lemon balm infused water

I went for a beautiful run the other day, part of the farm and part of the road. Guess what I saw apples growing, they are almost ready! That means fall is close, which I am not ready for it yet!

Than, I ran through some eggplants. If you have never seen eggplants grow, they grow upward with the help of the wood stakes. They start off as cute little purple flowers, than slowly grow into the egg plant that we all eat. Just to note: there is no machine that puts the wood stakes in, that is all manual work by my family and the other workers. It still shocks me how much work the farmers do for people to have an enjoyable, flavorful, and perfect products.
The one field I ran in consisted of: eggplants, peppers, tomatoes, basil, butternut squash, acorn squash, and small white pumpkins all growing in the field. Yes, they started growing fall produce. It is so awesome to see what the Lord has provided for my family.
The field parallel is filled with watermelon and cantaloupe. I can't get enough of them! You always need a napkin when eating them, so delicious. The field looks like a lot of weeds, but look carefully and you will see the melons.

Unlike many farms, we grow so many different types of produce and different varieties to be able to sell our own products in our market. With many different varieties, you need different machines, tools, water volume, and different care for each plant. My dad logs down everything they plant and pick, to guide them for the next year and for the state to see what they do.
Lately we have had a ton of blackberries. Last year was the first year I actually liked blackberries. I enjoy the sweet ones over the more tart ones. This year, I have been added blackberries into everything or enjoying their little fruit.
I was visiting my friend Tori and she was telling me about what she was growing in her garden. She showed me a herb called lemon balm, the leaves smell like the lemon candies from my childhood.

She decided to make iced tea and add the leaves into it. Since I have been on this blackberry kick, I decided to make blackberry and lemon balm infused water. After crushing up a few leaves and some blackberries, the water tasted so good. There was a little hint of lemon and blackberry. Perfect for a summer day!

I continued my blackberry kick with a blackberry and peach pie. I made the pie crust with almond flour. I also added some chia seeds to form a gel with the peaches and blackberries. I didn't have enough extra pie crust to cover the pie, so I took a cookie cutter and cut a heart out. Recipe coming soon, stay toned!
